Luz Del Valle Workshops

Luz Del Valle Workshops are for anyone who wants to improve their photography skills. I try to conduct each workshop based on the way I shoot, which means I prefer to steer away from tourist attractions which often leads me away from the beaten path. I try to schedule most locations on private lands that offer new and interesting landscapes not readily accessible to the general public. The primary goal is to provide techniques and instruction that will guide you to visualize and read the light in ways that will help you create, dramatic and LASTing images.

I prefer small, intimate groups to provide opportunities for one-on-one instruction. I do shoot alongside you to capture images that allow me to share tips and techniques during the editing sessions. You’ll learn workflow from planning, composing, capturing and processing using Adobe software.

My hope is that when you leave for home you’ll have a deeper understanding satisfaction in knowing you can create images of impact and beauty.

These workshops offer a chance to get up close and personal with the agricultural industry. You’ll shoot farm equipment and livestock against a mountain backdrop at sunrise and sunset. You’ll encounter farmers, cowboys, old barns, homesteads, natural grasses, fields of hay and chile peppers so much more. These workshops take place on farms and ranches in west Texas and southern New Mexico.   These are typically scheduled during the Spring or Late Summer or Fall. Space is limited to 6 photographers.

Desert Monsoon

The  Monsoon Season in the Southwestern US begins around Mid June and runs until the end of September. The annual workshop dates are based on long range forecasts and probability of storm development across west Texas, southern New Mexico and Arizona. When dealing with nature, weather patterns can be somewhat unpredictable, however we will do our best to get you on storms. We could end up chasing down near Big Bend, in southern New Mexico and if conditions are optimal possibly into southern Arizona. Mother Nature will be our guide on this one. At risk of jinxing our chances, if there is a lull in the action or we totally bust the workshop will switch focus to blue hour light painting, milky way or astrophotography, and sunrise/sunset opportunities. Whatever happens we will go the extra mile to make the trip a rewarding and memorable experience for participants.

July 27-29, 2018 (Space limited to 3 photographers.)

August  3-5, 2018 (Space limited to 3 photographers.)

Cost for each workshop $750 per person.  Instructor and participant(s) will be responsible for their afternoon/evening meals and lodging.

When one thinks of fall color images of Vermont or even Colorado come to mind and while they are sure to inspire. The desert highlands of far west Texas and forests of southern New Mexico have some inspiring fall views as well. You’ll have a chance to experience sleepy valleys bursting with orange and gold, beautiful canyons and mountains, and even a hidden spring or waterfall as we venture to lesser known locations for amazing fall images.

(Space will be limited to 6 photographers.)
